What Is Digital Dentistry?

We cannot move forward and grow unless we learn to embrace new technology and advancements. In the dental world, digital dentistry is the future. As things develop, dental professionals have access to equipment that can:

  • Make diagnosing a patient much easier
  • Offer in-depth exploration of treatment solutions
  • Perform procedures with reduced risk of infection and faster healing times

Digital dentistry allows for greater precision and better outcomes each step along the way - and, it is something that Cragun Endodontics uses daily while treating their patients.

Digital Services We Use

We are always looking for new digital services that can transform the way we help our patients. Below you will find a sample of what can currently be found in our office.

Cone Beam 3D Scanner

Rather than the traditional 2D x-rays that dentists have always had, these offer three-dimensional, clear, detailed images of teeth, bones, and soft tissues that surround them.

Digital X-Rays

These x-rays are safer and more efficient than the traditional x-rays that have been around for decades. They provide 90% less exposure to radiation to keep patients safe. Plus, the image it takes is conveniently on a screen that can be adjusted for the perfect-sized view. They can also be easily sent to another dentist if needed.

Microscopes

Working with a microscope allows Dr. Cragun to have greater visibility. When it comes to procedures like root canals and the delicate inner areas of the tooth, microscopes provide accuracy and a higher level of success in diagnosing and treating endodontic conditions.

Intraoral Camera

Using the intraoral camera increases the level of education and discussion about a patient's oral health. With the camera, not only can the dental team see the tooth, but it will show up on a tv screen for the patient, too. This is a great tool for discussing treatment plans.

Apex Locator

An apex locator is an incredible tool that is used to determine the length of the root canal space. It is a commonly used endodontic tool that is necessary for root canal treatment.

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Using Electronic Medical Records our practice is able to quickly and accurately access patient information in order to provide the utmost in patient care.  This helps to ensure patient confidentiality as well as reduce the need for paper.  Using a digital format allows for quick access to your information when needed for insurance records yet provides a secure filing system.

Hand Held Digital X-Ray Device

Our offices utilizes the latest in lightweight, portable x-ray technology to provide x-rays that capture a high-resolution accurate image in less time and with more patient comfort than other traditional chair side x-ray equipment.

Electronic Apex Locator

This device is used to obtain the proper length of the root canal, from which the doctor can determine the position of the file relative to the apex of the root. This can help ensure that the canal is completely free of debris, reducing potential future complications.

Ultra Quiet Electric Handpieces

These handpieces provide less vibration and noise than traditional dental drills. Not only are they quieter, but also more efficient in tooth preparation making dental procedures shorter and more manageable.

Digital Flatscreen Monitors

These monitors are found next to every patient chair. Patients can view their dental radiographs when speaking to the doctor about the findings for a better understanding of their oral health.

Wi-Fi

Our office offers free Wi-Fi for our patients use while visiting our office.
